Why are Czech Lion coins exceptional?

Although silver is an underappreciated investment instrument, there are now more and more conservative investors who prefer silver to gold because the former offers not only a high medium- to long-term potential for gains, but the fact that silver an industrial metal also provides a host of other unique benefits. Unlike commemorative coins, the favorable price of silver coins is not primarily affected by their collectibility or artistic and historical value. The premium on silver coins – the difference between the price of a precious metal on the commodity exchange and the sales price – corresponds to this fact. That being said, the Czech Lions do feature an outstanding design that celebrates patriotic values.

Czech Lion Coin

The motif on the reverse side of the coin was inspired by the Czech Republic's traditional symbols – the double-tailed lion, the St. Wenceslas crown, and the Eagle of saint Wenceslas. These attributes make the Czech Lions easily identifiable both at home and abroad. The obverse side bears a lime twig and the attributes of the Island of Niue – the profile and name of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of issue (2019), and the nominal value of two New Zealand dollars (NZD), referring to the country that has licensed the Czech Mint to mint its own coins. The coin design has been created by prominent medal designer Jaroslav Bejvl. Regrettably, Bejvl died at the age of 75 years before completing the work, and the unfinished design was completed by Asamat Baltaev, a talented artist from the younger generation.
